Drug War Victim of the Day
killed in Prince Georges County, Maryland on August 15, 2022
Southeast Washington DC remains a no-go zone, even for UPS drivers, as this latest shooting incident points out, which is 1 in 6 shootings that have taken place in the last week, two of them fatal. If this were happening in Hollywood, California, it would be a scandal. But movie stars are people, and victims of the drug war, especially when poor and black, are what Noam Chomsky calls 'unpeople.'

The Drug War Philosopher
killed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 29, 2022
15-year-old Dechale was shot and killed in the dangerous-sounding 9000 block of North 95th Street. He was the 14th juvenile killed this year in Milwaukee and the 109th homicide so far this year. The Gannett-owned Milwaukee Journal covered the story as little as they possibly could. Instead of telling the kid's life story, they soon move on to to covering important stuff like a Sporkies Competition at the Wisconsin State Fair.
